Job Purpose

Dalkia is seeking an experienced Health & safety Adviser to support our H&S team in solving complex organizational and operational challenges through people-based safety solutions and allow us to grow our unique culture as we grow the business. You’ll be an integral part of the team, so you’ll need to understand every aspect of the business and act as a leader regarding HSE within the Specialist Services environment.
You will be guiding supervisors and managers through an exciting time of growth for the Dalkia Specialist Services Business Units that includes, Nuclear Operations, Cleanrooms, Infrastructure and E&I, hence your ability to establish your personal and functional credibility and to build strong working relationships acting as a trusted advisor will be key. This is a full-time opportunity based in the South-East working from either the Sizewell B Power Station office or the Dungeness B Power Station office with travel required to other sites mainly within the South as required to support the growing portfolio of projects within Specialist Services.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Partner with specified Dalkia Projects to deliver a comprehensive Safety and Health advisory and guidance service to Project Managers and their teams to ensure all aspects of best practice safe working environment are established and maintained.
  • Support Dalkia’s pre-qualification process across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality components of bids.
  • Monitor Project site compliance and procedures against Imtech’s policies and propose solutions.
  • Reviews Risk Assessments, Method Statements and POWRA
  • Carry out HSEQ audits and inspections as directed by the H&S Lead.
  • Provides expert resources for investigations into incidents and near misses, illnesses, and injuries in order to establish root causes and so make recommendations for changes and improvements to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Take a broad / long term perspective and proactively identify complex challenges and think systemically. Identify and offer solutions and drive implementation.
  • Work closely with the Business leadership and HR teams to define appropriate safety initiatives and plans.
  • Work on a range of HSE improvement projects and initiatives
  • Support development of Subcontractor and suppliers’ approach to HSE performance and compliance.
  • Prepare presentations and data/insights analysis working with other HRBPs and subject matter experts as required.

Working Relationships

Internal

  • Work with the Dalkia Heads of Operations, Site Leads and Project Managers and Engineers, Designers to ensure collective responsibility and a shared desire for success
  • Other Dalkia Health and Safety Advisors to share learning ad outcomes

External

  • Interface with Clients, Client Partners, Suppliers, Sub-contractors & Project Teams.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Qualifications

  • A recognized Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
  • Construction Industry specific training
  • H&S MSc /Chartered MIOSH status (Preferred but not essential)

Experience

  • Ideally 3 years of HSEQ experience in a Construction site environment.
  • Nuclear Experience Preferred
  • Experience should include a focus on safety performance management and effective influencing of construction managers and teams.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of HSE processes, practices and systems and the ability to drive their improvement.
  • Knowledge of HSE systems design and implementation
  • Ability to analyse and interpret HR data in order to drive informed business decisions and carry them out.
  • The ability to build professional working relationships with internal and external staff, up to and including Board Level.

  • Must have demonstrated effective multitasking and project management skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build relationships, up to and including Board Level
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and business acumen, with the ability to challenge and champion change
  • Experienced in discussing and managing performance, giving feedback and agreeing changes.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time and priority management

  • High levels of IT literacy
