In a challenging environment working alongside EDF, Dalkia delivered a great welfare facility for the Sizewell CNC Team.
Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) based at Sizewell B Power Station had outgrown their existing facility which had fallen into a degraded state of repair. This required a refurbishment and reconfiguration of the ground floor to open up more space accommodating Covid-19 restrictions. Dalkia were successfully awarded the contract for this multi-discipline project tasked with the electrical, mechanical, builder’s works and civil elements.
As the main contractor we led with a series of feasibility studies. A design was prepared by our client, EDF, to use the existing building housing supply chain staff to become the new welfare facility.
All works were completed safely and with strict adherence to building regulations and site procedures. This included full review of electrical supplies and installation of electrical systems, installation of air conditioning throughout, supply and installation of new shower cubicles, toilets and kitchen facilities requiring plumbing, as well as construction of walls, partitions, new ceiling and flooring.
In a challenging environment working alongside EDF, Dalkia delivered a great welfare facility for the Sizewell CNC Team. Overcoming a few challenges, the most noticeable being noise due to the proximity of occupied working offices, we delivered an exemplary building refurbishment from electrical through to civil works. The customer can now benefit from upgraded welfare facilities for their staff as well as bringing together their workforce from across the supply chain in a centralised and spacious area.
