The project saw the construction of Spire Healthcare’s flagship, state-of-the-art hospital in Didsbury, Manchester.
Central to the development was the transformation of a brownfield site in West Didsbury into a new £31m private hospital which replaced existing accommodation in the city. Working collaboratively with Vinci Construction throughout the two-stage tender period prior to contract Dalkia were awarded the project.
Following appointment, we advocated that the best way to meet client requirements was through a robust programme, developed early in the process which reflected the build strategy to be delivered with an integrated approach. The strategy was broken down into main service routes, floor plates and plantroom areas to understand risks and achieve flexibility in delivery.
Successful delivery of the project was contingent on two factors; utilising pre-fabricated solutions, which enabled the team to manage and mitigate potential labour productivity issues and improve health and safety, by reducing the need to work at height. Using this practical value engineering approach from the outset strengthened our relationship with the client.
Secondly, the robust evaluation and selection of the supply chain ensured that the parties selected provided real benefit, bringing operational excellence within their respective areas whilst working in a collaborative manner with all stakeholders.
