As part of the new Hinkley Point C (HPC) power station project estate Dalkia has been appointed to provide technical engineering support to develop the mechanical, electrical and plumbing designs for four ancillary buildings, prior to delivering the installation of the services in early 2026.

These include a Primary Access Control building, Emergency Response Centre, Emergency Response Energy Centre and Backup Emergency Equipment store, that are critical to the daily operations of the station and continued monitoring in the event of an incident.

Approach

The project team will develop the client’s stage four designs to ensure they are ready for construction to begin, meet all regulatory standards and the high levels of safety and nuclear compliance required.

To ensure consistency across the project the creation of a team including Project Management, Engineering and BIM Modelling specialists was essential. This team will create and provide the stage five construction design information, cost plans and scheduling details for use when the installation phase of the project begins.

The scale of a project such as HPC means the team constantly work in close proximity and collaboration with the client and other subcontractors throughout all phases.

Result

When the team deploy to site in early 2026, they will have construction ready information, a detailed build schedule, a defined supply chain and a coordinated multi-service model ready for utilisation.
