The development sees the construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the existing Unilever Advanced Manufacturing Centre.
The project comprises of a 2,500m² pilot plant enabling production processes to be developed for new products on site. A large raw materials warehouse adjoins the plant to service the pilot plant and a new two-storey office and amenity block is located at the front of the building providing office, conference and welfare facilities.
Dalkia undertook the full MEP package and the team worked collaboratively with BAM Construction from the outset. Through this early engagement it was identified the use of off-site prefabrication and coordination of works would be key to delivery. Utilising prefabricated modules including pipework, electrical containment and skid mounted plant delivered cost and time efficiencies for the programme.
The coordination of the multitude of services within the pilot plant and interface with the structural ceiling forming part of the pilot plant construction was a demanding challenge. A fully detailed 3D model was produced to ensure all M&E interfaces were correctly coordinated and positioned, in accordance with the critical locations, to ensure correct operation of the facility.
