Dalkia wins maintenance contract for road communications and tunnels with NMWTRA

Five-year contract will see Dalkia supply maintenance, fault repair and refurbishment services.

In July 2023, the Imtech group company rebranded to Dalkia.

Dalkia has won a new five-year maintenance contract with the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA). The work will see Dalkia carry out ongoing maintenance and refurbishment as well as upgrading aging technology to support an Intelligent Transport System.

For the duration of the contract, Dalkia will be responsible for term maintenance to NMWTRA’s Area Network assets, responsive fault call outs and repair and emergency support services and upgrading and replacing assets.

NMWTRA manages, maintains and delivers improvements on the strategic road network in North and Mid Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government. NMWTRA operates on the basis of a partnership between the 8 North and Mid Wales local authorities. The service covers 1080 kilometres (670 miles) of trunk road including three A55 road tunnels.

The competence and expertise of the Dalkia team was clear to see and we’re confident that they will deliver against our expectations and those of our road users.

Staying road smart

The win sees Dalkia build upon its 25-year relationship with NMWTRA. Upgrade works include replacing current street lights with LED units, installing new vehicle number plate recognition cameras, 4 vehicle accident and incident detection thermal technology.

Public address systems, digital matrix signage, weather stations for monitoring wind speed, temperature and visibility, pollution sensors are also parts of this contract.

We’re incredibly pleased to be chosen by NMWTRA to help them maintain and upgrade their road network to ensure it can best serve those that use it.

Throughout the life of the contract, systems will be maintained and upgraded as is seen fit to ensure that the systems in operation meet modern standards.

Steve Henry, Operations Manager, Dalkia, said, “Our longstanding relationship is testament to the quality of the work our colleagues have carried out over the past 25 years and I look forward to taking that success with us into the future.

Geraint Jones, Tunnel and Technology Unit Manager, NMWTRA, said, “The competence and expertise of the Dalkia team was clear to see and we’re confident that they will deliver against our expectations and those of our road users.
