Dalkia has won a new five-year maintenance contract with the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA). The work will see Dalkia carry out ongoing maintenance and refurbishment as well as upgrading aging technology to support an Intelligent Transport System.
For the duration of the contract, Dalkia will be responsible for term maintenance to NMWTRA’s Area Network assets, responsive fault call outs and repair and emergency support services and upgrading and replacing assets.
NMWTRA manages, maintains and delivers improvements on the strategic road network in North and Mid Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government. NMWTRA operates on the basis of a partnership between the 8 North and Mid Wales local authorities. The service covers 1080 kilometres (670 miles) of trunk road including three A55 road tunnels.

Staying road smart
The win sees Dalkia build upon its 25-year relationship with NMWTRA. Upgrade works include replacing current street lights with LED units, installing new vehicle number plate recognition cameras, 4 vehicle accident and incident detection thermal technology.
Public address systems, digital matrix signage, weather stations for monitoring wind speed, temperature and visibility, pollution sensors are also parts of this contract.

Additionally, Dalkia will provide pollution-driven average speed camera zones, rural school speed sign deterrents, and new intruder and fire suppression systems.
Throughout the life of the contract, systems will be maintained and upgraded as is seen fit to ensure that the systems in operation meet modern standards.
