This is to support our active projects in the North (Manchester and North East). A Hybrid position with travel to site and our office in Leeds as required. 

Role Overview 

In this role you will be supporting the full life cycle of our projects from development and design, through to construction and commissioning. You will manage external and internal design teams to ensure buildable designs that mitigate construction and operational risks, execute energy savings, and deliver solutions on time.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities 

  • Ownership of the customer journey from development opportunity to the completion of technical delivery.
  • Provide technical support to the project manager throughout the construction phase.
  • Acting as the single point of contact with major clients for all technical status and coordination topics.
  • Overseeing a portfolio of projects in the region varying from £100k feasibility opportunities through to £30m energy performance contracts.
  • Maintain all relevant project documentation in line with Dalkia Energy Services document control processes.
  • The management of survey and design programmes in conjunction with the Project Managers and external planning resource.
  • The recording and management of technical risks as part of the overall project risk management process.
  • Working in conjunction with the centre of excellence to maintain Dalkia Energy Services processes and governance.
  • Ensuring that schemes are designed withing budget.
  • The management and coordination of internal technical resources to produce scopes of requirements to design consultants and subcontractors, review external consultant deliverables, analyse options against cost and safety considerations, and deliver designs to the correct scope and detail.
  • The management and coordination of technical resources and information to resolve project challenges, produce workable solutions within your team, and sustain project programme.
  • The development of client opportunities for additional revenue to formal proposals, liaising with project, technical, commercial, and procurement colleagues.
  • Reporting of the statuses, actions, and escalations to the regional Project Director.
  • The management of external design consultants to produce designs for major packages such as heat pump, boiler, chiller, energy centre, borehole, and high voltage infrastructure designs.
  • The coordination and alignment of technical packages and design outputs to remove gaps and omissions from being carried into tendering and construction.
  • The high-level commercial oversight of the managed works, including risks and opportunities, handling variations, and basic progress reporting.
  • The provision and coordination of construction stage support to facilitate progress, resolve clashes and issues, and manage change.

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in M&E design in a project delivery environment – Essential
  • Line Management Experience of a small team – Essential
  • Proven hands-on experience working on engineering projects from conception through to delivery, working with large scale heating systems (i.e. 2-10MWt) and technologies such as heat pumps, boilers, CHP, chillers, heat exchangers and air handling units – Essential
  • Planning and organisation skills to be able to manage multiple elements and projects at once – Desirable
  • An awareness of regulatory compliance associated with industrial projects, including planning, building control, fire, environmental permitting, noise assessments and electrical connections – Essential
  • Exposure to energy saving measures and initiatives from conception through to delivery, such as building fabric (i.e. roofing, cladding, windows), solar PV, LED lighting, ECDC fans, and BMS upgrades – Essential
  • Project Management experience – Essential

Technical Asset Manager
Reporting to the Head of Asset Performance, we are currently seeking a full-time Technical Asset Manager to manage our portfolio of energy assets. This is a customer-facing role and will involve optimising technical performance to ensure assets deliver the contractual obligations. A suitable candidate for this role would possess solid multi-tasking and prioritising skills, as they would be required to oversee numerous assets within the portfolio. You will also have keen attention to detail, be highly driven, an innovative thinker with a strong team-work ethic to hit the ground running and thrive in this busy and successful organisation. You will be experienced in managing commercial scale mechanical and electrical (M&E) assets. This must include major plant such as air source and water source heat pumps, CHP, boilers, steam systems, HTHW and LTHW water services, pumping systems, BMS, chillers and chilled water systems. Experience in boreholes and renewables including ground source, air source, Solar PV and battery storage would be advantageous.

Project Director
You will report to the Managing Director of Dalkia Energy Services and be a member of the Division’s Executive team. The Projects Director is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of energy infrastructure and decarbonisation projects located in London and the South of England, each up to value of c.£50m, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality project delivery. In this role you will be accountable for the Projects from design development through to the successful completion of construction, driving performance across the programme, commercial outcomes, stakeholder engagement and team development. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of design engineers and project managers, as well as having oversight of key third party contractors. You will work in collaboration with teams from across the wider business, including Commercial, QSHE and Energy Engineers to ensure the successful completion of the projects within your regional portfolio.
