At Dalkia Engineering, safety is not just a priority — it’s a core value. We operate in complex, high‑risk environments, where getting health, safety and security right is fundamental to everything we do. This role is based in London however we are happy for the right candidate to be in close proximity to one of our other hubs, Birmingham, Nottingham or Bolton.

The Health, Safety and Security function at Dalkia supports the safe delivery of mechanical and electrical engineering services across complex, high-risk environments, including healthcare and defence. The team provides strategic and operational H&S leadership, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards while promoting a strong, people-first safety culture.

Working closely with operational leaders, the function drives continuous improvement in safety performance, embeds risk management into everyday activities, and builds strong relationships with employees, contractors, and clients. Through proactive leadership and initiatives such as Changing Gear, the function has helped deliver an excellent safety record, including an outstanding LTIR of 0.05 in 2025.

The Health, Safety and Security Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for health, safety and security across the organisation. This role is central to shaping a positive, proactive culture where safety and wellbeing are integral to how we operate, make decisions and deliver outcomes

About you

You are a credible, values‑driven senior leader with a passion for creating safer, healthier and more secure working environments. You bring a strong track record of influencing at board level and driving meaningful cultural change across complex, multi‑site organisations.

You are equally comfortable setting strategy and ensuring practical delivery, with the confidence to challenge constructively and bring others with you. Resilient and adaptable, you thrive in dynamic environments and are able to balance strategic vision with operational realities.

You will bring:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in health, safety, security or a related risk discipline.
  • Experience operating in a board‑facing role within a large, complex or multi‑site organisation.
  • A strong track record of driving health and safety cultural change and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to work across all levels of the business.
  • Experience leading large, cross‑company health, safety and wellbeing programmes across functional boundaries.
  • A forward‑thinking mindset, with a track record of innovation and thought leadership.
  • The ability to lead, develop and inspire high‑performing teams.

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification

Desirable:

  • Experience within sectors such as main contracting, industrial/manufacturing, consultancy or the public sector
