Summary of Role:

The Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing the construction logistics and stores operations supporting all Dalkia works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) and associated developments. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant coordination of materials, plant, equipment, and logistics activities across the project.
 Acting as the intelligent owner of the logistics process, the role oversees the stores and logistics teams, manages final mile distribution, and ensures materials flow smoothly from arrival to point of use. The position plays a pivotal part in achieving construction milestones through high-quality planning, coordination, and execution of logistics and warehouse operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Logistics Operations & Distribution 

  • Oversee and optimise the Final Mile Logistics (FML) distribution strategy for Dalkia workfaces. 
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and safe distribution of non-permanent & permanent material from delivery to enduse locations. 
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with logistics superintendents, procurement, construction teams, and suppliers. 
  • Lead the planning and execution of unloading, handling, internal transport, and storage activities. 

Stores & Material Management 

  • Manage the receipt, inspection, storage, issue, and traceability of materials within the Dalkia stores compound. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory using warehouse management systems.
  • Ensure all materials are stored in line with quality standards and nuclear compliance requirements. 
  • Oversee housekeeping, stock accuracy, and audit readiness. 

Team Leadership 

  • Provide leadership to logistics superintendents, non-working supervisors, operatives, storekeepers, and distribution teams. 
  • Ensures Daily Activity Briefings (DABs) are being suitably undertaken and ensure compliance with RAMS and site safety procedures. 
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the logistics team in line with HPC & Dalkia values and expected behaviours. 
  • Ensure teams follow standardised logistics and stores processes. 
  • Carry out Site Leadership Tours and Inspections of all Dalkia Logistics Areas 

Safety, Compliance & Governance 

  • Ensure strict adherence to HPC & Dalkia Health & Safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Protect Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI) in line with EDF policies. 
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, compliance checks, and site reporting. 
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks within the logistics chain. 

Performance & Continuous Improvement 

  • Monitor KPIs and performance standards for logistics and stores operations. 
  • Analyse data to identify bottlenecks, capacity issues, and improvement opportunities. 
  • Implement best practice and drive continuous improvement across logistics functions. 
  • Support the Construction Logistics Superintendents with performance reporting and strategic insights. 

 

Accountabilities:  

  • Accountable for the efficient, safe, and compliant delivery of Dalkia logistics and stores operations at HPC.  
  • Accountable for ensuring FML distribution meets programme timelines and quality expectations.  
  • Responsible for leading, coaching, and developing the stores and logistics team. 
  • Accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of all inventories under Dalkia control.  
  • Responsible for maintaining governance standards, including documentation compliance and SNI protection.  
  • Accountable for providing highquality reporting, insights, and performance metrics.    
  • Responsible for embedding HPC’s values of Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity within the team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:   

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Construction, or related discipline.  
  • Demonstrable experience managing teams within a logistics, construction, warehouse, or industrial environment. 
  • Demonstrable experience on a large infrastructure project / highly regulated environment.  

Desirable qualifications and Experience:  

  • Logistics specific qualifications (e.g., CPC, IoSCM, IOSH, NEBOSH).  
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics leadership within a complex, highly regulated industry (nuclear, energy, aerospace, major infrastructure, defence, etc.).  
  • Strong experience in finalmile logistics, largescale distribution, or construction logistics.  
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply logistics frameworks, methodologies, and project controls. 
  • Experience with logistics technology platforms, warehouse management systems, or asset tracking tools (e.g., AiM).  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making capabilities.  
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate complex information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.  
  • Experience working cross functionally in large multi-contractor environments.  
  • High level of organisational skills, time management, and resilience under pressure. 

 

Working Pattern of Attendance and Location(s): 

  • 9 day fortnight or traditional 5 day working week  
  • Predominantly Hinkley Point C, Construction site, with a view to remotely supporting developing Dalkia Nuclear Contracts as required.  
  • Occasional travel may be required to Aztec West in Bristol and other Dalkia facilities
