Dalkia is seeking a proactive and highly organised Subcontractor Manager to join our team at Heysham 1 Power Station. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in the effective management and coordination of subcontractors on site, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality delivery within a regulated environment.
The Role
As Subcontractor Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for overseeing subcontractor activities on site. You will ensure all works are properly planned, authorised, supervised, and delivered in full compliance with Health & Safety requirements and company procedures.
You will act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, working closely with operational teams to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update SMOC records for all subcontractors.
- Verify that all subcontractor documentation is current and compliant prior to granting site access.
- Supervise subcontractor activities on site to ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards and quality expectations.
- Meet and brief subcontractors upon arrival and oversee their activities throughout their time on site.
- Conduct setting-to-work processes and deliver pre-job briefs as required.
- Review and validate subcontractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) prior to work commencing, ensuring understanding and compliance.
- For high-risk activities, obtain approval from the local ISM and ensure RAMS are formally reviewed and signed off.
- Carry out routine spot checks and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Work collaboratively with Operations Managers and Supervisors to plan and coordinate subcontractor activities effectively.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and report any Health & Safety concerns to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the ISM with day-to-day operational tasks.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a confident and detail-oriented professional with strong organisational skills and a solid understanding of Health & Safety management. You will be capable of building effective working relationships with both subcontractors and internal teams, while maintaining high compliance standards.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards completion within 6 months).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a relevant role (e.g. Subcontractor Management, Compliance, H&S, Works Management, QA).
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety management systems and compliance processes.
- Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with technical or facilities management disciplines.
