A new £75m development, which once completed added an extra 8,500 seats increasing the overall capacity to 54,000.
From the outset we worked collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the design was finalised early and early programme identified. The successful delivery of the project lay in the use of off-site construction and through stakeholder collaboration we identified areas where pre-fabrication could be effectively utilised. During the construction of the new stand the club remained fully operational.
The deadline for the completion, ready for the start of the 2016 / 17 football season, was achieved through working in partnership and maximising the use of off-site manufacture expedited against a set schedule, therefore minimising disruption to players and visitors. Working to the tight timescales of the football season, the team designed highly effective pre-fabricated packages for the primary vertical steel risers incorporating ductwork, pipework and containment. These were installed during the closed season where partial demolition of the existing stand also took place. Services were isolated, modified and re-routed and prepared for integration to existing systems, this took place during the following 2016 closed season.
