Role Characteristics:

Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.

All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.

All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

Summary of Role:

Electrical Chargehand to oversee and support electrical installation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves leading a team of electricians and apprentices while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and project deadlines.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work on-site.
  • Actively be part of the working team leading by example
  • Ensure all work complies with all industry regulations, health & safety standards, company and project procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to electricians and apprentices, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
  • Liaise with the Electrical Supervisor, Site Manager, and other trades to maintain smooth project progress.
  • Conduct quality checks, inspections, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Manage materials, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues, proposing solutions where necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed and report on project progress.

 

Other Duties / Responsibilities.

Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of electricians and apprentices.
  • Allocate tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensure all work complies with industry standards, and project and company procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, RAMS & POWRAS.
  • Ensure all team members follow correct procedures and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and complete necessary documentation and reports.

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:

One of the following from A, B & C:

A-

  • Level 3 Installation Electrician Apprenticeship Standard (STO152)
  • An equivalent Electrical Installation Apprenticeship
  • ECS Gold Card

 

B –

  • AM2
  • FICA

 

C-

  • LATS
  • SSSTS
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • CCNSG or ECS HS&E Test

 

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or chargehand role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation, and testing procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • A proactive and problem-solving approach to work.

 

Working Pattern of Attendance and Location(s):

  • Hinkley Point C Construction Site, Wick Moore Drove, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1UD
  • 11 /3 -Day working Pattern.
