The Building Surveyor will be working on our PFI Schools Contract within Dalkia Scotland Facilities.

From reactive and planned maintenance, project delivery and life safety systems to energy and lifecycle management, we work with each school to provide local, responsive service and value for money. Together with teachers and the school’s support team, we’re working to create teaching and learning environments where pupils excel.

 

What you’ll be working on…

  • As a Building Surveyor, reporting to and supported by the Lifecycle Manager you will be working within our lifecycle team to deliver a successful programme of works on our PFI Schools Contract.
  • The Building Surveyors main objectives will be to support the Lifecycle team, maximise project profitability, minimise project risk, and ensure contractual obligations are met.

 

Main Duties …

  • Undertaking building condition surveys.
  • Preparing reports/Schedules of Dilapidations and Schedules of Condition
  • Undertaking building defect diagnosis inspections.
  • As part of a wider team regular review of every contract in the FM portfolio to assess future expenditure and maintenance cost, having the ability to undertake building condition surveys of existing building fabric, mechanical and electrical services installations, working with subcontractors and third parties to build up year by year future assessments of replacements and maintenance.
  • Prepare, manage and deliver the supply chain tender process including any necessary documents & schedules of work.
  • Quality assurance checks of ongoing or completed works.
  • Provide technical assistance to manage the lifecycle and variation works on client properties.
  • Preparation of budget costings for proposed projects.
  • Project cost management & administration
  • Ability to prepare, submit and obtain approval of any Planning and other Local Authority Consent Applications.
  • Liaising with and reporting to Clients.
  • Monitor / Report accurately for the client and stakeholders the drawdowns against the lifecycle fund and to ensure that all contractual obligations are met.

 

The skills and experience you need…

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • A formal degree in a Building or Surveying related subject. (Desired but not essential)
  • A formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc, MSc, HND or other recognised vocational routes such as the “RICS Certificate in Quantity Surveying Practice”)
  • IT literacy with regards to the Microsoft suite of software (excel, word etc.)
  • Work Experience (placement, pre-degree employment etc.) within the construction sector.
