Job Description

The Logistics Manager will work in collaboration with the Project Managers and accountable to the Senior Project Manager, to support our project teams in providing the logistical management of a complex and technical construction challenge.

They will work closely and liaise with clients and stakeholder to plan and agree the Project Logistics Plan.

They will establish and maintain all aspects of a Dalkia project Logistics Plan and support the project team by overseeing the entire supply chain operations. The Logistics Manager is to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery and movement of all plant, equipment, materials and resources to, from and around the projects. Depending on project size this may include support to more than one project and the management and mentoring of project Logistics Co-ordinators.

They will continue to develop knowledge and contribute to the systems, procedures, documents, software and processes Dalkia use for the digital information delivery of a project. This will include the development and maintenance of data to ensure Dalkia’s KPI’s are met.

Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 1 year in a managerial role is required. A good working knowledge of the logistics management, within the nuclear industry along with a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

It is expected that the following responsibilities can be carried out independently by the candidate.

Key responsibilities, but not limited to:
• Manage and optimize the flow of materials, plant, equipment and resources of suppliers to projects.
• Develop and implement logistics strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs to improve project delivery.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of logistics staff, providing training on procedures and best practices where required.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Following the information and security control procedures applicable to the project.
• Ensuring all documentation meets company and client standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to improve processes.
• Producing progress reports where required.
• Conducting reviews and document audits on subcontractors.
• Chair regular logistics meetings with clients and contractors.
• Using digital tools to organise and distribute documents within the company and to clients as required.
• Liaise with the client’s team and maintain a good working relationship.
• Ensure logistics objectives are achieved and maintained.

Capabilities

Knowledge
• Working knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Knowledge of construction, waste management, controls and quality management systems.
• Working Knowledge of electronic data recording and documentation control.
Skills
• Strong understanding of logistics processes, inventory management, and transportation.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to analyse and interpret data to support informed decisions.
• Excellent approach to detail and record keeping.
• Articulate and confident communicator.
• Able to build professional working relationships with project team members, sub-contractors, clients and stakeholders.

Previous Experience Required

This role is intended for a candidate with previous experience (5+ years) in a Logistics Manager role with a detailed working knowledge of logistics and quality management systems.

Experience of working in a fast-moving construction environment and supervising a logistics team and the control of plant and equipment.

Experience of working in a nuclear construction environment is ideally required but not essential as training will be provided.
Proven experience working within a similar role, with experience of compliance within an engineering environment.
