Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, reporting to and supported by a Regional Commercial Manager, you will be working within one of our regional delivery teams on a range of decarbonisation projects in the North of England. Being part of a wider commercial team, you will manage and control the commercial, financial, and contractual elements of designated project(s) to maximise project profitability, minimise project risk, and ensure contractual obligations are met.

From the Leeds office, the region covers projects in the Midlands and North, supporting hybrid / remote working between site and office visits.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities 

Commercial Reporting & Forecasting 

  • Produce accurate project commercial reports and forecasts. 
  • Prepare accurate and timely client valuations. 
  • Manage and report on project financial performance in line with company standards. 

Procurement & Subcontract Management 

  • Manage project sub-contract procurement processes. 
  • Prepare subcontracts and all required documentation in adherence with business guidelines. 
  • Oversee and control sub-contract accounts, payments, and variations. 

Contract Administration & Compliance 

  • Ensure projects’ commercial obligations are administered in accordance with client contracts. 
  • Maintain compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures. 
  • Liaise with Commercial Managers and Project Directors on contractual issues and take action as required. 

Risk, Change & Value Management 

  • Work closely with site operations and design teams to identify and mitigate project risks and opportunities. 
  • Implement and manage effective change control processes. 
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives where applicable. 

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Attend project and company-related meetings. 
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with clients to support future business opportunities. 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure commercial objectives are met. 

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience 

Essential: 

  • You are a team player that and an effective communicator with good analytical skills.  
  • You are comfortable working to deadlines and producing a good standard of work.   
  • A formal qualification in Quantity Surveying (BSc, MSc, HND or other recognised vocational routes such as the “RICS Certificate in Quantity Surveying Practice”). 
  • Demonstrable work experience of Quantity Surveying in a Main Contracting / Subcontracting environment 
  • IT literacy with regards to Microsoft Excel, Word etc. 

Desired but not essential: 

  • Attained or working toward appropriate professional membership (eg RICS/CICES/CIOB)  
  • Experience in one of the following areas; M&E / MEP / building refurbishment / civil engineering. 
  • Experience of managing multiple subcontractors on one project. 
  • Experience on projects ranging from £2m – £20m in value. 
  • Familiarity with JCT and NEC Suite of Contracts. 
  • Experience and comfort when communicating with all levels of Senior Management and stakeholders. 
  • The ability to influence the project decision making process. 
  • Experience in working with cost management systems such as Navision, Oracle, SAP, Coins etc.

Electrical Design Engineer
The Electrical Design Engineer will have proven experience working on LV and/or HV distribution systems which will include working with energy centres, transformers, CHP, solar PV, standby generation, heat pumps, and connection to the DNO electricity distribution systems. Ideally, they will have hands-on experience of project ownership from analysis, design, installation and operation and maintenance of electrical systems. Design Manager
In this role you will be supporting the full life cycle of our projects from development and design, through to construction and commissioning. You will manage external and internal design teams to ensure buildable designs that mitigate construction and operational risks, execute energy savings, and deliver solutions on time.
