Role Overview

In this role your overarching responsibility will be to undertake measurement and verification (M&V) energy assessments to help develop new propositions from concept through to continued operation of emerging and existing sites. You shall also be responsible for liaising with clients in reporting the energy saving effectiveness of sites Dalkia Energy Services (DES) operate and maintain.

This position will be based at a DES regional office, however the location of our projects and clients is diverse and will require flexibility to travel across the UK.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Have responsibility for a country wide portfolio of projects where applicable
  • Be responsible for the management of the Graduate Energy Engineer to mentor and coach your team setting targets which shall benefit the individual, wider team, and business.
  • Design, develop and optimise energy efficient solutions for complex M&E Schemes, to provide a cost effective NPV that clients will want to undertake with DES.
  • Undertake and take responsibility for energy saving M&V reporting to clients from the start of construction through to practical completion and ongoing throughout the term of the agreement/requirement.
  • Carry out site inspections and energy surveys taking account of current energy usage.
  • Use mathematical and computer models to complete design and specification calculations, being accountable for your solutions.
  • Work closely with the Energy and Decarbonisation team to develop site energy measurement proposals from the early stages of construction through to practical completion and ongoing M&V.
  • Work closely with the Design team to feedback early-stage post construction learnings from previous projects and from learnings of ongoing operational sites and M&V contracts.
  • Develop technical expertise in all matters to do with energy management and control for continuous development and learning.
  • Be responsible for the site energy savings providing calculations to have predicted and mitigated any shortfalls.

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience

  • Experience of managing people demonstrating leadership
  • IPMVP qualification or equivalent qualification is desirable
  • Experience of being client facing and leading senior external meetings
  • A complete understanding and knowledge of the energy market and the workings of M&E systems and how we maximize the energy efficiency and savings from innovative energy designs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Scientific and mathematical ability
  • Organizational and negotiation skills
  • IT skills, including knowledge of Excel, Energy Models and ESOS/EPC Reporting
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of business, and how to achieve energy savings.
  • A full understanding of the M&E and Energy Industry
  • Initiative and the ability to recognize emerging problems and proactively develop solutions.
  • Self-motivating, resolving issues from your own initiative.

Electrical Design Engineer
The Electrical Design Engineer will have proven experience working on LV and/or HV distribution systems which will include working with energy centres, transformers, CHP, solar PV, standby generation, heat pumps, and connection to the DNO electricity distribution systems. Ideally, they will have hands-on experience of project ownership from analysis, design, installation and operation and maintenance of electrical systems. The candidate will also work with our audit team to provide buildable designs to execute energy saving measures, which will utilise their experience of delivering solutions on live sites.  They will also assist the mechanical and controls engineers in the electrical design for mechanical and control systems.

Senior Energy Engineer
In this role you will be supporting the full life cycle of our projects particularly the design, construction verification and post completion savings. You will collaborate with external and internal design teams to develop buildable designs that mitigate construction and operational risks, execute energy savings and deliver solutions on time.
