The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for supporting business strategy to maximize long-term profitability. To consistently monitor performance of the Projects, identify wastefulness and areas for improvement, and implement strategies to make all stages of the project process as efficient and effective as possible. They will be overseeing the delivery of all elements of Dalkia Nuclear Projects covering, Commercial, SHEQ, Project Delivery, Resource Management, Procurement (Suppliers & Sub-contractors).
They will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team at the various stages of the process including Director, Operations Manager, Contract Manager, Lead Project Manager, Estimating, QS, H&S Manager, Site & Project Managers.
Main responsibilities and key outcomes
As the Senior Project Engineer, you will be reporting directly into the Lead Project Manager, you will be working on a portfolio of projects at various stages from tender to aftercare ensuring that project timescales, health & wellbeing and commercial governance is adhered to, ensuring risks and opportunities are managed and that the projects outcomes are met. This will involve working closely with the Operations Manager and Lead Project Manager to assist decision making.
This is a full-time opportunity based on Sizewell Power Station office with travel required to other sites.

Manages who: Project Engineers, Contractors & Suppliers employed on your contracts.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor delivery of the project, identifying risk and opportunities and working with key stakeholders to optimise project delivery.
• Assess the ‘constructability’ of the proposed design and ensure that Design teams produce feasible designs within the required timescales.
• Lead the delivery of construction works, ensuring compliance with all company processes and protocols.
• Review and approve contractor documents as delegated by Lead Project Manager
• Support and develop the supervisory and engineering team, and support project steering groups/cross discipline action groups, as required.
• Perform up front site surveys including liaising with designers.
• Proofread and approve drawings where required.
• Where appropriate, act as point of contact for site related project issues.
• Act as Test Team Leader where appropriate
• Manage the implementation of systems and processes for Right First-Time approach.
• Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
• Input and drive of operational target programs to reflect overall construction program.
• Identify longer term strategic training to support individual development as required.
• Management of subcontractors and advise on commercial aspects / preferred attendances and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation options.
• Support the work winning process by providing technical input.
• Carry out the role of an EDF approved field supervisor, nominated competent person, WOC specifier and Nominated supervisor.
• Producing EC&I RAMS & Quality plans for client review
• Work alongside the Lead Project Manager to gain experience and capability in the delivery of projects requiring the creation of large project teams with multiple elements on a cross discipline and/or multi supplier basis
• Expert understanding of concepts, procedures and application of project management and an extensive knowledge in other subjects or disciplines, which are relevant to the content of the project.
• Brings this knowledge to bear to ensure reuse and best practice across projects.
• Support the Lead Project Manager with Plans to manage and deliver larger and more complex long-term projects.
• Evaluates situations using multiple sources of information. Solution will typically require some new planning and resource elements, potentially generating bespoke adaptations.
• Projects will typically involve a significant element of risk to the business and/or external clients and require the ability to use and adapt recognised project management methods and processes, depending on the elements of the risk profile and governance needs.
• Support the Lead Project Manager and Project Managers to deliver projects to contracted service levels and within defined financial targets whilst maintaining and developing customer satisfaction.
• Must have proven ability to apply relationship management skills in the medium terms and to be able to build and own client and stakeholder relationships during and beyond the project duration.
• Expected to coach / mentor and line manage Project Engineers
• Seeks innovative ways to expand the business scope of projects and to manage the cost base.
• Management of all Commercial, Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality, Resourcing and Planning of all elements of the Projects
• The preparation and issue of project information including but not limited to Quality Plans, Programmes and providing project reports.
• Provide detailed information to assist with the Commercial/ Estimating Process
• Ensuring records are kept in accordance with Company guidelines.
• Ensuring the man power levels are sufficient for the project
• Contributing to the development of new concepts and techniques
• Ensuring documented management procedures are implemented across all sites/ projects.

Knowledge • A proven track record in a responsible Project Engineering role with demonstrable success in managing project operations and people to a successful outcome
• Experience of supporting teams and developing talent

• Practical understanding of services discipline associated with the role this being Mechanical bias.
• Collaborative working environment experience.
• Experience in the management of a wide range of construction operations, including phasing and contingency planning, together with testing and handover.
