Senior Quantity Surveyor
Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the Senior Quantity Surveyor must provide commercial management and contract administration support to the project team and senior management.
Within this role the employee must provide an efficient service in all areas of Quantity Surveying duties. They must be able to liaise with all other Surveyors and members of the team; to be able to maintain company goals and procedures. They must also obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations and maximise profitability by performing them professionally.
Main responsibilities and key outcomes:
- Key advisor to the Commercial Lead on project commercial and/or contractual matters.
- Provide advice to the project management team on the day-to-day commercial risks and associated issues that arise during the cycle of the project.
- Lead or assist the Commercial Lead with the negotiation of new contracts and amendments to ensure equitable and balanced business relationships can be formed without undue risk to the Company.
- Lead or support the maximising of company entitlement with respect to profitability and/or revenue and mitigate and minimise expenditure.
- Maintain strong cashflow into the business by tracking and monitoring applications, certifications and invoices.
- Ensure compliance with the Company commercial and/or contract policies and/or procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support tender and estimating processes commercially.
- Manage and lead the commercial processes on projects whilst maintaining high standards and clear objectives.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures in line with Company policies and provide input into the continuous improvement and development of such procedures.
- Ensure the delivery of robust financial governance on matters related to commercial, performance reporting and contract management on projects.
- Prepare monthly budgets and forecasts, cash flow and/or cost value reconciliation reports detailing P&L against forecasts.
- Issuing of monthly applications, monitoring, forecasting and cash collection.
- Implement project commercial and contract strategies and provide guidance to project teams with respect to cost contract, contract administration and risk management.
- Manage the monitoring and reporting of risk management across their project/s.
- Lead or assist the Commercial Lead with the negotiation of new contracts and amendments to ensure equitable and balanced business relationships can be formed without undue risk to the Company.
- Lead/support the negotiation an agreement of wording and limits or levels of security in respect to Performance Bonds, Parent Company Guarantees, Insurances etc including the review and monitoring of renewals.
- Ensure that all suppliers and sub-contractors are pre-qualified and procured in accordance with Company procedures.
- Lead/support the drafting and issuing of Letters of Intent and contractual correspondence.
- Ensure that all project specific commercial obligations are monitored, administered and issued as defined in the Head Contract and Sub-Contract. This includes establishing entitlement, issuing of related notices, recovery and agreement of variations/claims.
- Lead/support the negotiating of Sub-Contract terms and conditions including levels or limits in respect of liabilities, insurances etc.
- Timely review of Suppliers and Sub-Contractors applications and preparation and processing of all related payment paperwork.
- Validation and negotiation of Sub-Contractor accounts up to and including final account settlement, including monthly reviews and collating and reviewing of contemporary records.
- Attend/support internal and external progress and commercial meetings.
- Lead/support the resolution of disputes (upstream/downstream).
- Lead/support the continued training and development of junior or trainee surveyors.

Educational Qualification Required: (minimum) BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying.
Previous Work Experience Required:
- Experience with a large scale M&E provider.
