About the Role

The post holder will be responsible for providing performance leadership to the Senior team within the business unit. Deliver on expectations in line with agreed budgets. Safely provide a quality service to our customers throughout the UK whilst delivering consistent, cash-backed profit. Growth of the end-user client base. Assist the sales team, develop new opportunities within the food and beverage and life science market and generate new customers within the relevant sector. Be a proactive member of the Senior Management Team in determining both organisational and strategic plans which will achieve the fundamental business objectives set for the business in terms of growth, performance, cash and people performance and client relationships. Work closely with the Managing Director to assist in the optimisation of the way in which projects and services are offered to the market.

National travel will be required, and the role will require working from the office, across sites as required and remotely.

Key Accountabilities

Culture and Communications

  • To support managers in attaining their personal and project performance and coach and support them in building trusted advisor relationships with their clients.
  • Work closely with direct reports to ensure they have a clear understanding of Company direction, the service to be delivered to meet the changing environment and ensure that the company’s delivery is aligned accordingly.
  • To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Managing Director.
  • To engender a team ethos to ensure the whole team is working harmoniously and delivering to a common high standard.
  • Work closely with HR, H&S, IT, CEDD, Commercial and Finance etc to ensure that best practise can be brought across the business.
  • Management of direct reports performance regarding attendance, delivery, training, and development.
  • To ensure relevant communication is cascaded and that there is a mechanism in place to listen to and include all employees in the successful delivery of the EE/MSS business plan.
  • Ensuring compliance with Dalkia UK values, leadership principles, policies, processes and Group Standards throughout the business.
  • Continue to develop and promote a high-performing team culture with the inclusivity of functional and operational people.
  • Ensure that learning and development are aligned and that high potential employees are given every opportunity to grow.
  • Ensure that talent pipelines are maintained and presented in line with the Company’s annual people development cycle.
  • To actively drive a high level of employee engagement, acting upon the outputs of the last employee opinion survey.
  • Performance manage people on output not “Time” input and be fully supportive of a flexible agile work culture.


  • Take ownership of and provide effective leadership to the business team including our commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
  • Develop relationships with existing clients and instil confidence in EE/MSS to generate additional work scope.
  • Continually work to increase the market presence of EE/MSS by increasing the client base and service scope delivery. Gain new business, within the following areas, growth to existing contracts, additional core business contracts; extra project works, new business stream opportunities.
  • Work with the Senior Management Team on innovations and improvements to the service offering/delivery and continually bringing added value to all the contracts.
  • Challenge, inspire and develop the management team.
  • Unlock the potential within the management team and empower them to grow the business.

Operational Performance

  • Regularly review contract performance and seek continuous improvement on our service delivery to customers.
  • Ensure company policies and processes are followed and that all operations function within Dalkia UK business principles and values.
  • Set and manage firm financial targets to meet established objectives, which will include the reporting of the financial status to the Managing Director.
  • Manage and set firm financial and delivery targets for direct reports to meet established objectives.
  • Produce monthly reports in the agreed format.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Managing Director.

Key Skills

  • The successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC level in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or recognised equivalent; and will possess:
  • Proven management experience within the F&B and Pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Experience in managing multiple, UK wide site-based teams.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and skills to effectively problem solve.
  • High level of self-motivation, organisational ability, and drive to meet deadlines.
  • Proven track-record of assisting to secure projects with the wider team.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Results driven and customer focused.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. (Desirable)
  • A developer and champion of people. (Desirable)
  • Experience of financial forecasting. (Desirable)
