Trainee Health & Safety Advisor

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee QSHE Advisor to join our team in Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart or develop your career in Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) management within a leading technical and energy services business.

You will play a key role in supporting our operational teams, promoting a culture of safety and environmental excellence, and helping us maintain our high standards across a range of engineering and facilities management contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support QSHE audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement preventative actions

  • Assist in developing and maintaining QSHE systems, risk assessments, method statements, and permit to work processes

  • Monitor the implementation of QSHE objectives and produce performance reports

  • Help investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and corrective actions

  • Contribute to the delivery of QSHE training and awareness initiatives

  • Support the upkeep of QSHE certifications, accreditations, and online compliance portals

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Some experience in a health and safety-related role

  • NEBOSH National Certificate (or willingness to work towards it)

  • Strong understanding of UK HSEQ legislation and management systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • A proactive mindset with attention to detail and a desire to learn

Desirable:

  • Experience in training design and delivery

  • Understanding of environmental management

  • Strong organisational and influencing skills

Working Relationships

Internal:

  • Regular contact with QSHE team, operational staff, managers, and directors

External:

  • Liaison with clients, suppliers, and external certification bodies
