The Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane in Mayfair is situated in one of the most prestigious addresses in London.
The Intercontinental Hotel has 447 quality bedrooms and suites, all designed to offer guests the ultimate sense of luxury, comfort and convenience during their stay. On this project, Dalkia has provided the complete M&E package to the rooms, including specialty services such as television, audio-visual and internet services.
In the early stages of the contract, speed of setting up the site and carrying out extensive validation surveys of the already installed services was required to allow careful project planning and to ensure timely delivery of the project. Dalkia delivered the project in a live environment ensuring minimal disruption to hotel guests.
After delivering the first 100 rooms within five months of starting on site, each floor was progressively handed over to the hotel on a floor by floor basis whilst maintaining services to the upper operational floors. The final guest room was completed within 12 months. During the construction phase, installation peaked at 25 rooms per week with close coordination and planning with John Sisk to ensure each guest room was completed in line with the standards required. The hotel reopened well in advance of the completion of works, generating revenue and maintaining the brand’s presence in this important location.
The Intercontinental was a difficult project with exacting standards. This was made even harder for both of us due to the extremely short lead period following the demise of the previous main contractor who had commenced the installations. It is a credit to your team that they were able to establish true requirements so quickly, which ultimately led to the hotel being operational by their target dates.
