We’re working with Vertas to provide a range of mechanical and electrical services responsibilities, from boiler servicing to expert solutions around heat and power, such as renewable energy works, including micro-generation renewable technologies, biomass boilers or photovoltaic solutions. Our highly skilled engineers and support teams keenly understand the individual needs and access requirements for each site across the complex portfolio, always prioritising the end user’s needs and keeping environments open and safe.

Keeping buildings running

The contract, mainly for Suffolk County Council, covers over 950 premises from schools, academies, children’s homes, fire stations, modern office blocks, libraries, data centres, children’s centres, nurseries and referral units. Work includes emergency, responsive and planned property maintenance services such as mechanical and electrical tests and inspections alongside typical property maintenance needs, including building management systems, lifts, security systems, plumbing and heating repairs.

Experience leads to added value

Many of our managers, engineers and supervisors have worked on this contract since it began in 2003 and have delivered long service with the business. A high proportion has also progressed their career with contract growth. This long-term experience means they can apply their technical and contract knowledge of the sites quickly and adeptly, delivering added value for our client and their customers.

Working with the customer, we have prevented frequent school closures due to temporary loss of heating. With the ability to respond quickly and our highly skilled repairs team, we can provide temporary heating via our own transportable boilers to ensure we do everything we can to keep these sites open.

The knock-on effect of a school without heating is widespread, as children have to go home, parents have to finish work or make quick short-term childcare arrangements, and our children miss out on key learning.
