That is why on 23rd December, members of Dalkia’s facilities northern team assisted with the delivery of 4,500 food boxes to vulnerable people in Bolton on behalf of Urban Outreach, a charity, that provides households in crisis with food and supports the most disadvantaged in the area.
Having held collection drives for several years for consumables, toiletries and non-perishable food items for Urban Outreach to issue to the community, office closures prevented that in 2020. Not to be put off, our team decided to adopt the ‘hands-on’ approach and arrived at the charity’s main warehouse to load up four Dalkia vans with food packages to distribute to specific hubs and then individual homes.
The highlight was seeing the children’s faces when we handed over the Cadbury selection boxes.

Items delivered included poultry and fresh fruit and vegetables, but also non-alcoholic drinks, Christmas crackers and Cadbury selection boxes. Operations Manager Sarah Towers, and one of the Dalkia volunteers, said “I think that I can speak for us all when I say that the experience was extremely humbling. In particular, seeing the joy on people’s faces when they received the food packages, especially items that, if we’re honest, the majority of us would take for granted. For me, the highlight was seeing some of the families that we delivered to and their children’s faces when we handed over the Cadbury selection boxes.”
Dalkia are proud to have contributed to such an important cause and make a small difference to those who require urgent aid.
